Class structure for June

Monday, Wednesday, Friday Tuesday & Thursday
Barre & 20 min. Centre Barre in the Centre (mostly)

The barre has the following elements: warm up, pliés, tendus (1st and 5th), jetes, ronde de jambe, fondu, frappe, adage and grand battement. The exercises are consistent over several days, new ones are introduced gradually and others switched, so we can maintain a flow during the class.

Centre exercises: Adage, tendus with alignment, single pirouettes, small combinations and small jumps (optional)

Free One on One sessions included upon request

Marel Eager (retired ballet teacher) will offer 15 minute long one-on-one sessions and Q&As after class on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays directly after class. These can be private (you and her only) or open to the rest of the class. Marel will also discuss common interest topics after class.

Not sure of the level?

Watch a full class recorded from one of the zoom classes. I also offer a lower Beginner Ballet 2 level (twice a week) and I have an on demand Ballet Basics (16 classes, 8 hours in total) entry level course for those new to ballet.

Online and on demand access

The classes are live daily through Zoom. Once you register (using the button below), you will receive a link, which is your gateway to the class or classes.

The class opens 10 minutes before start time. At this time you are welcome to greet and meet and cha with other participants. Many of us still have a cup of coffee or tea with us. When the class starts, all participants will me muted. You can choose whether to have your camera on or off. Recorded classes are also available on demand (for those attending 5 days a week and upon request).

What you need for the class

-Something to hold on to and act as a ballet barre: the back of a chair or a high counter top, anything where you can rest your hand on as if it was a barre.
-For your feet I recommend nice quick socks for the barre to keep your feet warm (ideally not too slippery) or ballet slippers if you have them.
-Place the laptop, tablet or phone at eye level if possible so you can maintain a proper upper body position.
-Water near you might be a good idea.
